Contribution to International Organizations
The JICPA has been a key member of the following organizations and its resources have been devoted to the worldwide development of the accountancy profession. Toward these aims, the JICPA representatives have participated in main committees of the following organizations, and important committee meetings have been held in Tokyo many times including the 13th World Congress of Accountants in 1987.
IFAC
The JICPA is a founding council member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). Immediate past Chairman & President of the JICPA, Tsuguoki FUJINUMA served as IFAC President for the term from May 2000 to November 2002. The JICPA has been committed to IFAC activities by dispatching its members to committees and sending its commentaries on the exposure drafts by IFAC committees.

IASB
The JICPA is also a founding member of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) (* the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC) was restructured as the IASB in April 2001) and has devoted its resources to various activities including fund raising and the development of International Accounting Standards (IASs), presently known as International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs). One of the JICPA representatives to the IASC Board, Eiichi SHIRATORI assumed the IASC Chairmanship for the term from January 1993 to June 1995. The IASB Technical Committee of the JICPA deliberate the comments on the exposure drafts issued by the IASB in order to contribute to IASB's developing a single set of high quality global accounting standards.
CAPA
As the founding and key executive member of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), the JICPA has played an important role in developing and enhancing the accountancy profession in the region. A JICPA representative, Hiroshi KAWAKITA served as CAPA President for the term from November 1986 to May 1988. At the CAPA 66th Executive Committee meeting in Seoul, Shozo YAMAZAKI, Deputy President of the JICPA assumed the CAPA President position for the term from November 10, 2005 to October 2007. The JICPA hosted the 17th CAPA Conference in Osaka in 2007. Gen IKEGAMI is the current JICPA representative. He is a JICPA Council member and has extensive experience in international matters.
